Team Lead, Senior Economist Payments CanadaAs Senior Economist at Payments Canada, ‘Segun has conducted a wide range of research developing quantitative and forecast models that advise Modernisation and Payments Canada’s corporate funding model. He has also developed market microstructure models of financial market infrastructures and is collaborating externally in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning within payments. In his role, ‘Segun is the subject matter expert on distributed ledger technology (DLT) and digital/cryptocurrencies, having participated in Payments Canada’s Project Jasper, as well as the ongoing Jasper-Ubin project. With a strong financial markets background, ‘Segun has worked in the Corporate Trust and technology functions related to secularisation, structured finance, and supporting over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives origination and trading at HSBC and the Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo). ‘Segun has a Ph.D. in Computational Finance from the Center for ComputationalFinance and Economics Agents (University of Essex) specialising in the market microstructure of financial market regulation under the Basel Accords. His research interests include Financial Network Analyses, Agent-based Computational Economics, Quantum Economics, machine learning and computational intelligence in finance and economics

Head of Future Technology Bank of EnglandWill is the Head of Future Technology, responsible for looking at how new technologies are influencing the financial system, as well as how they can be exploited to meet the Bank’s mission. Among other things this involves work on distributed ledger, artificial intelligence and their usage on payment and settlement platforms. Will’s role on the RTGS Renewal Programme is to ensure that the new platform is fit for purpose for the upcoming changes in payment technology.
