Commercialisation of APIs. Going above and beyond regulatory requirements
Commercialisation of APIs. Going above and beyond regulatory requirements
Commercialisation isn’t about a single use case; it’s about taking a portfolio view of what Open Banking can provide. Capturing the right opportunities, and early enough, will enable banks to grow their balance sheets. Once a bank’s APIs become consumable products, the API economy can also create additional distribution opportunities. Making APIs attractive to developers will drive new innovations and enable banks to keep ahead of the curve. Moreover, adopting a co-opetition model can ensure incumbents remain a vital part of the ecosystem. Join this session to unlock new models and methodologies of revenue generation.

PANEL DEBATE: Utilising Open Banking to build financial services of the future, today
While a number of programmes and initiatives in the financial services sector have been slowly and painfully closing the gaping hole when it comes to gender diversity and opportunities offered to women, sadly, the shift in this imbalance has not been as fast as everyone hoped. That said, the rise of women in fintech has proved to bring big benefits for both companies that employ them and the customers in the form of better products and services they offer. As an Open Banking and Open Finance industry, we have some catch-up to do. How shall we go about it?

PANEL DEBATE: Technical standards. From barrier to gateway
PANEL DEBATE: Technical standards. From barrier to gateway
As Open Banking – and now Open Finance – becomes a global phenomenon, country-specific technical standards have created silos that may present barriers to unleashing the full potential of truly open, cross-market activity. Even within discrete markets, variance in the interpretation of standards has led to issues of connectivity and consistency, placing a burden of increased engineering costs on those providing the data and third-party providers. However, the success of Open Banking and Open Finance rests upon standards, and our panel will examine how greater harmonisation can transform these challenges into opportunities to enable to connected ecosystem of Open Finance that benefits everyone.

PANEL DEBATE: Developing a European Open Data strategy
PANEL DEBATE: Developing a European Open Data strategy
One of the lessons we learned with PSD2 is that requiring the sharing of information between banks without imposing an API (or at least defining common agreed standards) creates problems. As multiple actors in the ecosystem come together, fuelled by the guiding hand of the regulator, to create a level playing field for data-sharing, our panel coalesce to discuss the advances necessary to achieve the goal of the European data strategy and delve into the developments already made to progress the initiative.

How sustainability is the biggest commercial opportunity in financial services
How sustainability is the biggest commercial opportunity in financial services
In the past, sustainability has always been seen as a cost centre for businesses. Capturing this opportunity by building climate impact into existing services and launching new climate-positive services is the biggest opportunity in financial services this decade!

Impact of Open Data on the pensions sector
Impact of Open Data on the pensions sector
Recent YouGov research found that nearly half of the UK workforce did not know how much they had saved across their pensions in total. The fragmentation and complexity of the current landscape creates barriers that even the financially literature struggle to overcome. However, to drive success, the government, regulators, technology providers and pension schemes need to work in unison. Chris will walk through the transformative role that Open Data will play in democratising access and visibility in the pensions sector. You’ll be the first to hear the latest developments from the Pensions Dashboard Programme at the Money and Pensions Service.

Tackling merchant and consumer fraud and enhancing the payment experience
Tackling merchant and consumer fraud and enhancing the payment experience
We have all had that experience of being asked to give our card details over the phone. As consumers, calling out our card number, expiry date and CSV number to a stranger often triggers a concern ‘will my card details be safe?’ On the retailer side, they must manage sensitive data, pay higher transaction fees, are at higher risk of card fraud and it unfortunately becomes a disjointed customer experience associated with their brand. Adam Ball at Prommt, discusses how the accelerating shift to Open Banking payments drives a reduction of fraud and offers a better payment experience for customers.
