Open Banking Expo is proud to unveil the Powerlist 2026.
The Powerlist honours senior leaders, innovators and policymakers whose work over the past 12 to 18 months has helped move Canada closer to a functioning, consumer-driven Open Finance framework. From banks and credit unions to fintechs, regulators and infrastructure providers, those named are shaping outcomes, influencing policy and delivering tangible change.
The Powerlist 2026 was revealed live on stage at Open Banking Expo Canada on March 5 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, in front of 600+ industry leaders gathered to shape the future of financial services.
The inaugural Andrew Moor Award
This year also marked the introduction of the Andrew Moor Award, created in honour of Andrew Moor’s exceptional contribution to advancing Open Banking in Canada.
The Award recognises one individual whose leadership has helped move the ecosystem from discussion to delivery. The inaugural recipient was Neela Maharaj, Director, Digital Product & Strategy, Open Banking & APIs at RBC, recognised for her role in shaping Canada’s emerging legislative framework and delivering Open Banking infrastructure at production scale.

In March 2022, the Government of Canada named him the country’s Open Banking Lead. He was tasked with the mandate to empower Canadians and businesses with greater control over their financial data and to be better equipped to manage their finances. He established the foundation for Canada’s open banking system with a framework that is being implemented through legislation.
He was previously a Director at PwC where he led the firm’s Canadian open banking practice. Before joining PwC, he was one of the founders of Mox, a digital bank in Hong Kong built from scratch which has since gained prominence in the market. Prior to that, he was a director in digital banking in Singapore where he was responsible for the implementation of emerging technologies as well as making banking simpler and more intuitive.
Abraham is a frequent speaker at conferences as well as to board of directors and regulators on emerging topics in financial services. As a common law and civil law qualified lawyer, he bring a multidisciplinary approach that bridges the gap between banking, technology and law.
As Open Banking lead for Canada, I developed the framework now being implemented through legislation. This will finally give Canadians greater control and safety over the financial data that powers their lives.

Executive Director of Payments, Supervision & Oversight Bank of CanadaRon Morrow was appointed Executive Director of Payments, Supervision and Oversight, effective January 2024.
In this role, Mr. Morrow is responsible for the supervision of retail payment service providers (PSPs) and the oversight of financial market infrastructures (FMIs). As well, he oversees the banking and payment services provided by the Bank of Canada. He also supports the Bank’s work on the evolution of payments in Canada.
The Bank’s supervision of PSPs focuses on building Canadians’ confidence in the safety and reliability of their services while protecting end users from specific risks. The Executive Director also serves as an independent reviewer of enforcement actions by the Governor of the Bank of Canada on the evolution of risks related to PSPs and the retail payments landscape.
The Bank’s oversight of FMIs focuses on ensuring that Canada’s critical financial infrastructures, which include payment systems, central counterparties and securities settlement systems, are resilient to a wide range of risks.
Mr. Morrow first joined the Bank in 1992 and has worked in several different areas across the Bank’s monetary policy, financial stability and funds management functions. In 2010, he became Managing Director of the Funds Management and Banking Department and then Managing Director of the Financial Stability Department in 2013. Mr. Morrow became an Advisor to the Governor in 2018, focusing on advancing the Bank’s strategic objectives related to retail payments, financial market infrastructure issues and the efficiency of the Canadian financial system.
Born in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Mr. Morrow earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in economics with a minor in mathematics from the University of Waterloo. He also holds a Master of Arts degree in economics from Queen’s University.
