Gavin Shuker

Gavin is the current Chief Executive Officer for Cardeo Bank.

Before founding Cardeo in 2020, Gavin spent an active ten years in Parliament from 2010 to 2020, serving as the MP for his hometown, Luton South. After just one year in the job, Gavin was swiftly promoted to Shadow Minister at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. Two years later, Gavin was re-appointed Shadow International Development Minister.

While in Parliament, Gavin made over 100 contributions to Treasury debates on issues ranging from the regulation of cryptocurrency and taxes on high earners to increased public spending for those with disabilities and the need for financial incentives to lower carbon emissions.

Gavin’s time in parliament also reflected a strong commitment to his constituency and hometown. Following mass redundancies from Vauxhall, Monarch and Thomas Cook, Gavin passionately interrogated the government on an adequate response to the situation. In addition, he regularly probed Ministers on transport issues in Luton, calling for increased investment in the Thameslink and more highly skilled jobs in Luton Airport.

Before embarking on a career in politics, Gavin served as a Pastor for the City of Life Church.

Gavin attained a Master’s in Social and Political Science from the University of Cambridge in 2007.
