Open Banking Expo Canada is proud to announce the inaugural Andrew Moor Award in honour of the former president and chief executive officer of EQ Bank who passed away suddenly last year.
The Andrew Moor Award, proudly supported by EQ Bank, recognises an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to advancing Open Banking in Canada.
Andrew Moor was widely regarded as one of the strongest advocates for Open Banking in Canada, championing its potential to drive better outcomes for consumers, greater innovation, and a more competitive financial ecosystem. The award reflects the values he represented as well as the leadership, collaboration, and relentless focus on moving the industry forward for which he was known.
As Canada reaches a critical juncture in its Open Banking journey, the Andrew Moor Award provides a credible way to recognise leadership that has helped move the ecosystem from discussion to delivery.
The recipient of the Award will be revealed live on stage at the Open Banking Expo Powerlist 2026 ceremony, which takes place on March 5 at the MTCC in Toronto.
The Powerlist 2026 celebrates the most influential figures shaping the future of Open Banking and Open Finance in Canada.
“Andrew left an indelible mark on the Open Banking ecosystem, and banking industry more broadly, in Canada,” said Kelly Stanley, co-founder and operations director at Open Banking Expo.
“He was one of the strongest voices advocating for Open Banking in Canada, and this award is named in recognition of his legacy of collaboration, long-term thinking, and commitment to building sustainable financial infrastructure.”
At the time of his passing, Moor was the longest-serving bank chief executive officer in Canada, having been appointed to the position in 2007.
Moor was a regular speaker at Open Banking Expo Canada, where he advocated for the implementation of Open Banking in Canada.
