Abdi Hersi

Abdi Hersi is the Director of Payments Strategy & Partnership Development at Wealthsimple, where he leads the company’s payments modernization roadmap and open banking strategy.

He has played a key role in delivering critical product offerings that power the Wealthsimple client experience. Most notably, he led the effort to secure Wealthsimple’s settlement account with the Bank of Canada, enabling direct access to the upcoming Real-Time Rail (RTR) system.

With a background spanning government, banking, and tech, Abdi is passionate about advancing financial inclusion and modernizing payments in Canada. He also represents Wealthsimple on the FDX Canada Working Group and serves on the advisory boards of Open Banking Expo and Open Finance Canada.
