Jeanne Pratt, acting commissioner of competition at the Competition Bureau of Canada, will speak at Open Banking Expo Canada 2026 on March 5 in Toronto.
Pratt will discuss data portability, Open Banking, and the importance of promoting competition and innovation in the financial sector.
“We are thrilled to announce Jeanne Pratt’s participation at Open Banking Expo Canada 2026,” said Adam Cox, co-founder and managing director of Open Banking Expo Canada.
“Data portability and competition concerns are top of mind for Canada’s Open Banking ecosystem, so this session is incredibly timely. We look forward to welcoming Jeanne to the stage for what will be a fascinating session.”
A recent study published by the Competition Bureau found that introducing data portability frameworks could deliver major cost and time savings to Canadians.
The study, which used the insurance sector as a case study, determined that a data portability framework in this sector could save Canadians between $1.1 billion and $3.8 billion in annual costs.
“The Competition Bureau has long advocated for more competition in the financial sector,” said Pratt. “In today’s data-driven economy, Open Banking and data portability have tremendous potential to drive more innovative and affordable options for consumers, and to make it easier for new firms to break into the market.”
She joins a senior speaker line-up that includes Ron Morrow, executive director of payments, supervision and oversight at the Bank of Canada, alongside policymakers, banks, credit unions, fintechs, and technology providers from across the country.
Pratt has worked at the Competition Bureau of Canada for more than 14 years and has occupied a variety of senior management positions. She most recently served as the Senior Deputy Commissioner of the Mergers and Monopolistic Practices Branch. In that role, she oversaw all investigations and litigation related to mergers, abuse of dominance and other civil anti-competitive conduct.
Open Banking Expo Canada brings together leaders from financial institutions, regulators, fintechs, and technology providers to examine the future of Open Banking, Open Finance, and payments in Canada.
