Real-time clearing and embedded banking provider ClearBank has hired the Barclays and former Starling Bank executive Megan Cooper to lead its product management team and develop product strategy.

Cooper joins ClearBank as chief product officer from Barclays UK Business, where she served as chief product officer and head of digital strategy, and prior to that, as chief platform officer at Starling Bank.

In her new role, she will work closely with ClearBank’s client management, innovation, engineering, and risk and compliance teams to develop and maintain the bank’s capabilities.

“ClearBank’s success is built on understanding its customers’ needs, and that only comes from listening and using that insight to deliver great products,” said Cooper.

“I look forward to working with ClearBank and continuing this approach, creating services that will meet customer needs both in the UK, Europe and the US.”

Spiros Theodossiou, ClearBank’s group chief product and technology officer, added: “Megan brings a wealth of fintech experience to the role, having worked with both startups and established brands.

“She joins at a particularly exciting time for ClearBank as the business plans expansion—not just of its products and services, but also into international markets.”

In March this year, ClearBank partnered with the largest provider of free coding courses for women in the UK, Code First Girls, to recruit more female coders and close the gender gap in fintech.

More recently, ClearBank teamed up with UK-based SME lender Allica Bank to provide customer accounts and access to UK payments schemes to Allica’s business customers.
