Interac Corp (Interac) has announced the appointment of Anuj Dhall as group head, technology and operations, effective immediately.

This appointment will continue to drive the company’s commitment to made-in-Canada reliable, secure and cutting-edge technology for payments, digital verification, and commerce. He succeeds Jeff Henderson, who retired earlier this year following a distinguished 30-year career in financial services.

Dhall brings deep expertise in enterprise technology and financial services to Interac. In his new role he will lead efforts to further modernize the company’s technology infrastructure, enhance enterprise agility, and strengthen operational excellence.

His mandate includes overseeing the architecture, engineering and technology operations of core services such as Interac Debit, Interac e-Transfer and Interac Verified. He will also be responsible for advancing Interac’s work with Payments Canada as the fraud services provider and the primary technical operator of the Real-Time Rail.

“As the most reputable financial services brand in the country, Canadians rely on Interac to deliver secure, seamless transactions millions of times every day. Anuj brings vast experience modernizing systems at scale and he joins us at a moment of great momentum as we build the future of payments and digital infrastructure in Canada,” said Jeremy Wilmot, president and chief executive officer of Interac Corp.

“We extend our sincere gratitude to  Jeff for his significant contributions to Interac and his role in strengthening and modernizing Canada’s financial and payments system and wish him well in his retirement.”

Dhall joins Interac from PwC Canada, where he was a partner in the Financial Services Technology practice. Prior to that, he held executive leadership roles at the Bank of Montreal, the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and GE Capital Canada, where he led transformative initiatives, including the launch of Canada’s first mobile banking and brokerage applications, and the country’s first cloud-based banking IVR platform, among other notable achievements.

“Interac is the backbone of Canadian commerce – made by Canada, for Canada,” said Dhall. “The opportunity to help move this national champion forward is both a privilege and tremendously exciting.

“I look forward to advancing our digital infrastructure for the Canada of tomorrow while maintaining the security and consistency Canadians have come to expect from Interac.”

Interac is a 40-year Canadian success story, trusted by millions to move money and information safely and securely. Dhall’s appointment underscores the company’s longstanding commitment to innovation as a builder of critical national digital infrastructure.
