In a move set to modernise and enhance security measures within Belgium’s banking sector, the Centre for Exchange and Clearing has announced its selection of SurePay to provide Confirmation of Payee technology to domestic banks.

SurePay emerged victorious from a rigorous open tender process, conducted in collaboration with the Federation of the Belgian Financial Sector. The decision was influenced significantly by SurePay’s seamless integration with Swift PreValidation, ensuring both European Union and global coverage.

Renowned for its expertise in Verification of Payee, SurePay has been at the forefront of the industry since 2016. With an impressive track record of conducting over 1.5 billion checks annually, the company has garnered widespread recognition for its commitment to security and efficiency, both domestically and internationally.

Having originated as a spin-off from Rabobank in 2022, SurePay has rapidly expanded its footprint, serving over 100 banks across the United Kingdom and the Netherlands with Verification of Payee services.

David-Jan Janse, CEO of SurePay, expressed his gratitude at being chosen by Belgian banks to deploy Verification of Payee services. “We are honored by the trust placed in us by Belgian banks,” Janse stated. “Our existing multinational clients can now extend their Verification of Payee capabilities, while Belgian banks gain instant access to a network of 100 banks, enabling them to leverage valuable added services.”

The decision to partner with SurePay marks a significant step forward for Belgium’s banking industry, ushering in a new era of enhanced security and efficiency in financial transactions.
