Volt makes ‘PayTo’ solution available to Shopify customers in Australia

Global real-time payments platform Volt has expanded its partnership with Shopify into the Australian market, where Volt is enabling Shopify to offer Australian consumers its payment solution ‘PayTo’.

Volt has been an approved Shopify partner since 2023, when merchants across the UK, and Europe that had integrated Shopify were able to offer Volt’s ‘Pay by Bank’ solution at checkout.

The expansion of the partnership between the two companies means that Volt will be first-to-market on Shopify in Australia with a “one-click” checkout built on ‘PayTo’, which is a real-time payment system developed by the country’s New Payments Platform in 2022.

According to Volt, it is currently the only real-time payments provider in Australia to offer merchants access to similar domestic networks in more than 30 markets, via a single integration.

With Volt’s “one-click checkout”, consumers set up a payment agreement with merchants during their first purchase, meaning that any future purchases are automatically pre-authorised, removing the need for shoppers to approve each payment in their banking app.

In February, Pay.com selected global real-time payments platform Volt as its new strategic Open Banking partner.

As a result of the partnership, Pay.com’s merchants will have access to Volt’s ‘Instant Bank Transfer’ solution.
