Marking the fifth anniversary of PSD2
Henk Van Hulle, CEO of the UK’s Open Banking Implementation Entity (OBIE) joins Open Banking Expo’s Ellie Duncan to discuss the fifth anniversary of the second Payment Services Directive (PSD2), which made Open Banking a regulatory requirement in the UK. He talks about the completion of the CMA Roadmap and the implications for the OBIE. He also responds to concerns that the UK will fall behind other countries now the Roadmap has ended and reveals what shape a more equitable funding model might look like for Open Banking.

He is now leading the next phase of the development of open banking as it moves to a new regulatory framework and Future Entity.
Henk joined OBL from Post Office Ltd, where he had more than nine years’ experience in senior roles in innovation, including Managing Director of Digital Services and as Deputy CEO, Financial Services and Telecoms.
He has considerable expertise in managing profitable and consumer-focused blue chip and start-up firms, including senior roles at Egg PLC, Prudential UK, and Belgian internet bank.
