Carlos López-Moctezuma

Carlos López-Moctezuma is the Head of Open Banking for the BBVA Group. Since February 2019 Carlos is responsible for the development of the global strategy for providing core banking services through BBVA´s API platform in the different markets of the BBVA´s footprint. Prior to this position, he was responsible for the retail and digital strategy, in charge of global partnerships and led the innovation unit for the Mexican market. Previously he led the Financial Inclusion strategy of the group.

Before taking up his position at BBVA, Carlos López-Moctezuma worked during six years for the CNBV (National Banking and Securities Commission of México) as Chief of Staff for the President; worked for other public agencies and in the private sector for América Móvil and Seattle Northwest Securities Corporation.

Carlos holds an MBA with specialization in finance and strategy from the Yale University School of Management; additionally, he received a B.A. in Economics from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México, University where he teaches courses of Finance and Behavioural Economics.
