Ron Morrow, executive director of payments, supervision and oversight at the Bank of Canada, will take part in a keynote fireside chat at Open Banking Expo Canada 2026 on March 5 in Toronto.

In his session on the Main Stage, ‘The Bank of Canada’s next steps in consumer-driven banking and stablecoin supervision’, Morrow will discuss the evolving Open Banking and payments landscape in Canada.

In Budget 2025, the Federal government announced that oversight of the Consumer-Driven Banking Act will shift from the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada to the Bank of Canada.

At Open Banking Expo Canada in Toronto, Morrow will take to the stage to explain what’s coming next, and what it means for financial institutions, fintechs, and consumers.

Morrow, who was appointed to his current role in January 2024, is responsible for the supervision of retail payment service providers and the oversight of financial market infrastructures, and also oversees the banking and payment services provided by the Bank of Canada.

He joined the central Bank in 1992 and, since then, has worked in several different areas across the Bank’s monetary policy, financial stability and funds management functions.

Adam Cox, co-founder and managing director of Open Banking Expo Canada, added: “We are delighted that Ron Morrow is participating in a keynote fireside chat at Open Banking Expo Canada 2026.

“Attendees will hear first-hand from Morrow about the Bank of Canada’s thinking around and vision for Open Banking and payments in Canada. This is an exciting time for Canada and we are looking forward to hearing about what the future might hold for a more competitive and dynamic financial system.”

Open Banking Expo Canada brings together leaders from financial institutions, regulators, fintechs, and technology providers to examine the future of Open Banking, Open Finance, and payments in Canada.
