Belvo, the leading Open Finance data and payments platform in Latin America, today announced Belvo MCP (Model Context Protocol), a new infrastructure layer that connects AI agents to its financial platform. The technology gives AI agents access to financial data in a way that is secure, auditable, and always subject to the user’s consent, extending Belvo’s Open Finance infrastructure to a new generation of personalised financial experiences for companies and consumers alike.
With the launch, banks, fintechs, and other companies can build AI agents that work with verified financial data in real time, without building the connectivity, identity, consent, and regulatory compliance layer that markets like Brazil and Mexico require from scratch. Belvo MCP makes that infrastructure reachable by AI agents, bringing financial data, payments, and collections together on one platform and positioning Belvo as a core layer for the AI ecosystem in Latin America.
“We started Belvo with a simple conviction: financial access in Latin America shouldn’t depend on who you know, which bank you use, or how much history a bureau holds on you. For seven years, that’s meant building the rails that let banks and fintechs connect to a customer’s financial life with consent. Belvo MCP extends those same rails to AI agents, without changing the rules that govern them,” said Uri Tintoré, co-founder and co-chief executive officer of Belvo.
This lands as AI shifts from a productivity tool to an interface people use for everyday financial decisions. OpenAI has reported that more than 200 million people use ChatGPT every month for tasks like organising a budget, comparing financial products, and planning ahead. Recent gains in reasoning on complex, highly contextual tasks are pushing that further, and with it, the demand for secure access to financial data that is actually reliable.
In this context, Belvo MCP launches initially with three servers. The first offers documentation and a testing environment for developers, the second allows access to real financial data with the user’s consent, and the third will add AI-based financial analysis capabilities.
Panorama: proof, not a pitch
To demonstrate the potential of this new consumer-facing infrastructure, Belvo is also making Panorama available, a free experience created as a demonstration of what developers can build using MCP. The tool lets consumers connect their own financial data and interact with it through different AI assistants compatible with this technology, such as OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, and Manus, among others.
In practice, users can ask questions like “how much did I spend on restaurants last month?”, “is my income enough to finance a property?”, or “how have my expenses changed over the past year?”. Instead of providing generic answers, the AI uses the financial data shared and authorized by the user themselves to generate personalised, contextualised answers that are far more useful for supporting decision-making.
“We didn’t want to launch a diagram. We wanted to launch something people could actually touch,” said Tintoré.
“Panorama answers the question every company asks us before they build: does this really work? What it does for one person’s accounts today, our customers can build for their entire user base tomorrow.”
With Belvo MCP, the company aims to position its platform as the layer that will enable a new generation of artificial intelligence applications for the financial sector in Latin America. Just as global infrastructure providers have become strategic partners to the leading AI platforms, Belvo intends to occupy that role in the region by providing standardised, secure, and regulated access to financial data.
The launch comes as Belvo continues to expand. Over the past year, the company grew more than 100% compared to the prior period, now serves around 200 clients, and has a team of approximately 100 people. As it grows, the company is betting on the convergence of artificial intelligence and Open Finance as the next major transformation of the financial sector, providing the infrastructure that banks, fintechs, and enterprises need to develop a new generation of agent-based applications
