Keynotes and panels unveiled for Open Banking Expo UK & Europe 2025

Open Banking Expo has announced the keynote speakers and panel sessions for its UK and Europe event, taking place on October 21 and 22 at the Business Design Centre, London.

This year’s agenda will feature a keynote from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), as Andrew Self, head of department for Open Banking and Open Finance, takes to the main stage on the first day of the Expo at 10:25 to explore “Evolving the ecosystem: Regulation, innovation and an Open Banking roadmap for the future”.

Also delivering a keynote is Lord Iain McNicol of West Kilbride, member of the House of Lords and advisory board member at Smart Data Group, who will address the Smart Data Show at the Expo on October 21, at 13:50, speaking on “The Smart Data opportunity: Growth for public good”.

The two-day event will bring together other leading voices from across the ecosystem, with newly announced panels including:

  • The roadmap to real impact: Progress, pressure points and 2026 visionwith speakers from HSBC, Open Banking Limited and UK Parliament exploring adoption barriers, lessons learned and regulatory alignment in pursuit of meaningful impact by 2026.
  • Financial services in the fast lane: Winning in the age of acceleration – a cross-industry panel featuring Allica Bank, Amazon Web Services, BNY Mellon and Moneyhub that will examine how AI, APIs and real-time data are fuelling scalable innovation.
  • Direct, fast, frictionless: Why pay by bank is gaining ground – with Nationwide Building Society, British Gas, HMRC and Yaspa coming together to explore adoption trends, API-driven security and what’s next for Open Banking Payments.
  • Merchant demands meet payment innovation: Cracking the code for payment adoption – featuring Virgin Media O2, Jaguar Land Rover, JP Morgan Chase and Capital One discussing payment interoperability, consumer expectations and merchant-led innovation.
  • The identity framework: Unlocking data mobility across finance and beyond – featuring Barclays, FDATA, CFIT and NatWest Group, this session explores how scalable digital identity can underpin cross-sector data portability and trust.

In addition to the keynote and panel announcements, the Open Banking Expo Awards 2025 shortlist has been revealed. With more than 100 entries across 16 categories, the Awards celebrate the trailblazers redefining Open Banking, Open Finance and payments. Winners will be announced at a ceremony on the evening of October 21, following day one of the Expo.

In addition to the speakers outlined above, others who have confirmed for the event include:

  • Siobhan Dennehy, head of Smart Data team, Department for Business and Trade;
  • Mariya Brown, head of EMEA innovation, BNY Mellon Pershing;

  • Rory Tanner, head of UK government affairs, Revolut;
  • Nike Shoge, head of commercial growth, Starling Bank;

  • Elaine Mclaughlan, Open Banking and fintech product owner, TSB Bank.
