Payment orchestration provider BR-DGE is giving merchants access to Sift’s machine learning platform for fraud and risk decisioning via BR-DGE Connect, its payments ecosystem connectivity tool.

The new partnership, which harnesses ‘BR-DGE Vault’, a network tokenisation product, and Sift’s AI-powered decisioning engine, will create a more secure and “seamless” payment experience for merchants and, ultimately, consumers.

Sensitive payment data is encrypted for the full end-to-end payment lifecycle through BR-DGE Vault, offering faster review times, higher conversion rates, and improved decision accuracy, according to BR-DGE.

Meanwhile, Sift’s platform of fraud management tools, will provide merchants with a “highly secure, frictionless” checkout experience.

Tom Voaden, head of partnerships at BR-DGE, said: “Tackling fraud and protecting customers at the payment checkout is one of the biggest challenges facing merchants right now.”

The UK Finance Annual Fraud Report showed that more than £1.2 billion was stolen by criminals through authorised and unauthorised fraud in 2022.

He added: “By joining forces with Sift, BR-DGE is able to offer merchants access to an additional layer of security, promoting trust and loyalty amongst customers.”

“As consumers have adopted different payment methods, merchants have needed to respond in kind by providing them with choice during checkout. Yet, with different checkout options comes new fraud risks,” said Dave Scholtz, senior vice president of global partnerships at Sift.

“By partnering with BR-DGE, Sift customers can get the best of both worlds – the payment experience their users demand, without the fraud risk.”

In May, BR-DGE partnered with American Express to offer an Open Banking payment solution and “enhance” merchants’ Open Banking capabilities.

Last year, Travel Counsellors and Kenwood Travel were among the merchants to join the BR-DGE platform.
