Cloud-based clearing bank ClearBank has promoted Tom Harris to chief technology officer, responsible for driving its technology innovation and leading the continued build of its core technology platform.

In the new and expanded role, Harris will continue to report to ClearBank’s chief information officer Stuart Morley.

Having joined ClearBank in 2018 as a software developer, Harris was promoted to head of engineering in May 2019 and over the past three years worked to build the bank’s technology department, scaling the team to over 120 engineers.

Nigel Walder, COO of ClearBanksaid the appointment reflected the “significant impact” Harris has made to the business.

“His knowledge and passion for technology has proven to be a real asset, which will be instrumental as we move into the next phase of ClearBank’s growth and evolution,” said Walder.

“Our people are at the heart of every success and milestone we have achieved at ClearBank so far. Tom’s appointment will not only help drive this going forward but also demonstrates our continued focus on developing and promoting talent from within the business.”

Prior to ClearBank, Harris helped to build Just Eat’s development organisation and was also the founder of BuildCircle, a software engineering consultancy.
