Canadian cloud-based solutions provider for ecommerce, Tulip, has revealed that its omnichannel and enterprise-grade ‘Point of Sale’ (POS) now supports Tap to Pay on iPhone, due to its partnership with fintech platform Adyen.

The partnership means that Tulip Point of Sale will be able to accept contactless payments using only an iPhone, and without the need for extra terminals, readers, or hardware.

Ali Asaria, CEO of Tulip, said: “The world of retail is constantly innovating, and contactless technology is an important element.

“We are thrilled to be one of the first to offer Tap to Pay on iPhone and see it as part of our commitment to bringing agile and modern technology to retailers and their customers.”

When a payment is processed by Tap to Pay on an iPhone, Apple does not store card numbers on the device or on Apple servers.

Tulip POS provides an omnichannel checkout experience for both customers and associates which, according to Tulip, helps to “maximize store productivity”.

Earlier this month, Adyen announced it has partnered with touchless self-checkout solution Autocanteen to create a seamless self-checkout service for diners.

European Open Banking platform Tink formed an Open Banking-powered payments partnership with Adyen in October last year, building on their existing partnership for account check technology.
