Open Banking Expo, in association with EQ Bank, is seeking views about the ‘Future of Open Banking in Canada’, in light of the final report from the Government of Canada’s Advisory Committee on Open Banking which came out in August.

The final report recommended that Canada’s initial Open Banking roadmap should be operational by January 2023 and adopt a “made-in-Canada” approach to implementation.

As an “immediate first step”, the advisory panel said that an Open Banking lead who will be accountable to the deputy minister at Finance Canada should be appointed.

The short survey will collate views from across the industry about the report’s recommendations and the challenges faced by Canada’s banks in delivering the roadmap.

It also asks for opinions on Bill C-11 and Canada’s payments network.

The findings of the survey will be published in a report released exclusively to delegates at this year’s Open Banking Expo Canada event on 23-24 November.
