No barcode? No problem: Azikus open-sources ‘Scan and Pay’ feature at Open Banking Expo

Azikus, a software company based in Zagreb, Croatia, is open-sourcing its ‘Scan and Pay’ proof of concept at Open Banking Expo this year, built natively for iOS and Android.

Photograph an invoice, and its payee, bank details, amount and reference populate a payment review screen in the mobile app, no payment barcode required. The demo focuses on UK invoices, and an optional companion display shows what’s happening behind the scenes. All interested parties will be given access to the feature at the Azikus stand.

Photo-based payment capture already exists elsewhere. What Azikus is offering banks, fintechs and payment platforms is different: a Scan and Pay capability built into their own product, on their own stack, with the code and deployment rights to run it themselves rather than depend on someone else’s black box.

Two more things are exclusive to delegates this year. At the show, Azikus will offer visitors the complimentary Open Banking Mobile Benchmark, a proprietary teardown of how their live banking and fintech apps actually perform on UX and speed, benchmarked against real reference points.
