How performant are Open Banking APIs?

The below blog from OpenWrks explores the latest Open Banking API statistics from the month 22nd October- 22nd November 2018.

A couple of months ago we made the conscious decision to put a pause on the release of our bank performance stats to give the participating banks time to iron out some issues and improve the performance and speed of their Open Banking APIs, something we have been working closely with them on.

Now, four months down the line, there’s been a whole lot of change. With larger amounts of traffic and more mature APIs, the statistics are starting to reflect progression by the majority of banks.

Now that it appears the bank APIs are in a more mature state and closing in on the all-important success measure of delivering a service with performance that has parity to their own online banking services, we’ll be posting an updated view of performance stats every month.

Enough chat, let’s get into the stats…

What’s changed?

It’s been four long months since our last bank performance stats were generated. So, just how much has changed in that time?

The table below covers the total amount of time, in seconds, that each bank has taken to respond to our API calls and compares it to the average speed between June and July of this year (our last data pulls).
