ZEN.COM, a European fintech providing payment acceptance, digital wallet and financial services for businesses and consumers, today announced the expansion of its Pay by Bank capabilities through Mastercard Open Finance.
The collaboration enables ZEN.COM to offer Pay by Bank experiences through Mastercard’s European payment platform, supporting both merchant payment acceptance and digital wallet top-ups.
As of September 2026, the service is live across all nine target markets: Germany, Austria, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Portugal, Ireland and Lithuania. Pay-by-bank is available to all ZEN.COM merchants and for ZEN.COM wallet top-ups across these markets.
The launch supports ZEN.COM’s ambition to give merchants and consumers a simpler way to pay, reducing the friction traditionally associated with bank transfers and invoice payments. Customers can pay directly from their bank account, while merchants gain access to a payment method that continues to gain momentum across Europe.
“Pay by Bank is becoming one of the fastest-growing ways to pay in Europe, and with Mastercard Open Finance we brought it live across nine markets through a single integration,” said Łukasz Neska, chief growth officer at ZEN.COM. “It gives our merchants and customers a direct, secure way to move money straight from their bank account, alongside the cards and other payment methods they already use.”
The partnership reflects a growing shift among payment providers and merchants towards Pay by Bank as a complement to existing payment methods, giving businesses more choice at checkout.
“The future of payments continues to be about removing complexity,” said Valerie Nowak, executive vice president, head of Open Finance at Mastercard APEMEA.
“Businesses want to focus on serving customers and growing across markets, not managing multiple integrations and payment infrastructures. Through our partnership with ZEN.COM, we’re helping make Pay by Bank easier to deploy, easier to scale, and easier for consumers to use across a wide range of European markets. The strong momentum we’re already seeing demonstrates how Open Finance is moving from promise to commercial reality.”
The announcement marks another milestone in Mastercard’s investment in Open Finance across Europe, helping banks, fintechs and merchants deliver new payment experiences through secure, scalable infrastructure.
Mastercard and ZEN.COM will continue working together to expand access to Pay by Bank for merchants and consumers across an increasingly connected European market.
