Open Banking has transformed access to financial data. The next opportunity lies in understanding what that data reveals about the person behind the transaction.
Serene’s customer context layer identifies changes in financial behaviour, giving institutions an earlier view of how a customer’s circumstances, resilience and risk are evolving — often before those changes appear in traditional indicators.
By adding this understanding to existing systems, institutions can make earlier, more appropriate decisions across financial support, responsible lending and fraud prevention. In retrospective evaluations, Serene has identified emerging financial difficulty 41–60 days earlier, creating more time to provide appropriate support and prevent avoidable losses.
This vision was recently brought to Mastercard’s Parliamentary Tech Showcase at the House of Commons, where founder and chief executive officer Savannah Price joined industry and government leaders exploring how technology can support a more innovative, competitive and inclusive financial system (see main image).
For Serene, the next phase of Open Banking is about more than accessing or categorising data. It is about understanding what is changing for each customer and using that insight to improve customer and commercial outcomes.
Find Serene in the Barclays Innovation Zone at Stand B9 at Open Banking Expo UK & Europe on 13-14 October at the Business Design Centre in London.
